I am an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I’ve previously held post-doctoral positions at Oxford, Bristol, and Rutgers. My research traverses epistemology, philosophy of science, decision theory, and the philosophy of machine learning. Currently, I'm deeply engrossed in understanding AI and AI alignment, a venture supported by recent grants from the Mellon Foundation and Open Philanthropy. Outside of academia, I spend most of my time thinking about baseball.
